Dr Kaileigh Veeran is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently practising at Victoria Mxenge Hospital in Durban. She obtained her Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FCOG) in 2022 and completed her Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2024. Her master’s research focused on gestational diabetes mellitus, specifically evaluating the role of fasting capillary glucose in a high-risk population. This work was presented at the 2025 FIGO World Congress and subsequently published in the FIGO special edition journal, contributing to the growing body of evidence aimed at improving screening strategies in resource-constrained settings.
She currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), where she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training. She is committed to advancing women’s health, with particular interest in preventative care, metabolic disorders in pregnancy, and improving maternal outcomes through evidence-based practice. She plans to commence her PhD in the coming year, with the aim of contributing to the field of maternal medicine and advancing preventative strategies in obstetrics.
